Disney Wish

Disney Wish

The Disney Wish launched in 2022 and is the first ship in the Triton Class (alongside the Treasure and the Destiny).

The Wish is inspired by fairy tales and fantasy and like all Disney ships, blends Disney magic, innovative technology and immersive storytelling into a luxury cruise experience. Disney Cruise Line has a really strong focus on beloved character, immersive dining and world class entertainment.

The stern character on this ship features Rapunzel and the grand hall is themed around Cinderella with a bronze status of her at the base of the staircase and a chandelier shaped like a wishing star.

Staterooms

The Wish has 1,254 staterooms with 70% offering verandahs and 90% have ocean views. All rooms are designed with elegant, storybook-inspired touches and offer ample storage and high-tech features like USB ports and smart TVs.

Each deck features rooms with different princess or Disney character theme such as Moana, Frozen, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. Accessible staterooms are available for guests with mobility needs as are connecting staterooms for families or larger groups. You can also request cribs, diaper disposal units and bed rails are all available upon request.

  • Inside Staterooms (category 11A, 11B and 11C - 169 sq ft) Split bathroom on categories 11A and 11B where the sink and toilet are in one room and the shower/sink in another. All offer a signature ‘magical porthole’ screen that displays real-time ocean views with animated Disney characters popping up randomly. Rooms offer a queen bed, single sleeper sofa and some have an upper berth pull-down bed.

  • Oceanview Staterooms (category 9A, 9B, 9C and 9D - 218 sq ft) Very similar layout and amenities to inside staterooms but feature natural light from oversized portholes. Some rooms sleep up to 5 with an extra Murphy bed which folds down.

Concierge Staterooms & Suites

The concierge level on the Wish is more expansive and luxurious than any other Disney ship with 76 concierge staterooms and suites. Guests receive priority boarding, exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge and sundeck with dedicated concierge hosts. There is also a dedicated Concierge bar (Lookout Bar).

Lots of different room options available including Oceanview staterooms (with or without a verandah), 1 and 2 bedroom suites and the Wish Tower Suite which is actually inside of the funnel! This suite sleeps up to 8 guests and has two master bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, floor to ceiling windows and private elevator access. It is a whopping 1,966 sq ft big too!

Dining

All Disney Cruise Line ships have rotational dining where guests experience rotational dining where restaurants are pre-booked each night automatically (with two different sittings which you get to pick from when you book - the first sitting generally begins at 5:45pm and the later seatings begins at 8:15pm). Rotational dining works where the guests rotate through the themed restaurants with the same serving team each evening so they really get to know your preferences and things like drink orders - it all adds to the exceptional service!

Pools

The pools on the Triton Class ships really differ from previous Disney Cruise Line ships. They offer multiple tiered pool decks, interactive splash zones and Disney’s first attraction at sea - the AquaMouse water coaster. The pool deck has funnel vision (a giant movie screen showing Disney films all day) and is also where the Sail-Away Celebration and Pirate Night celebrations take place.

  • Mickey and Friends Pool District: The main family pool area which is located on decks 11 and 12. There are 6 family pools spread out across the decks. They all vary in shape and depth with some only suitable for lounging rather than swimming.

  • AquaMouse: A hybrid water coaster and slide. Located on the top deck and loops around the side of the ship. This combines a water slide, animated show scenes, special effects and lighting. Riders board a two-person raft and is billed as a must do on the ship.

  • Toy Story Splash Zone: An interactive kids water play area with small water slides, spray jets and is obviously themed around Toy Story. Soft ground and shallow water mean this is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers.

  • Trixie’s Falls: A shallow wading pool next to the splash zone designed for toddlers to dip and play.

  • Slide-a-saurus Rex: A small, twisty water slide perfect for younger kids. It is fun but not too intimidating!

  • Chip & Dale’s Pool: Infinity-style plunge pool with great views. This is a hidden gem for families or adults wanting a more peaceful swim - it is secluded and quieter but not adult-only.

  • Quiet Cove (Adults-Only): Infinity pool with ocean views - close to the Cove Bar & Cafe and one of the best spots for peaceful sunbathing.

  • Concierge Pool Area: Exclusive pool for Concierge guests only - features plunge pools and whirlpools.

Family Fun

There is always a jam-packed schedule of onboard activities for every age when onboard Disney Cruise Line. Many of these can be pre-booked on the app (and some are an extra charge) but others are completely free and require no reservation. These include things like trivia, drawing classes, character meets, live music and plenty of pool deck activities. We have highlighted some of the best spaces below:

  • Walt Disney Theatre: This shows broadway-style shows like Disney’s Aladdin.

  • Hero Zone: Multi-purpose arena for games and sports. We love the Incredibles themed inflatable obstacle course which is free for all guests!

  • Cinemas: There are two free cinemas onboard showing the latest Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars movies.

  • Untangled Salon & Hook’s Barbery: Guests of all ages can book into these for a full range of hairdressing and other treatments such as manicures/pedicures. Hook’s Barbery turns into an adults-only bar during special evening events offering things like whiskey tastings.

  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique: Book a makeover appointment for your child at this magical salon where kids arrive as themselves and leave as a princess, knight or sea captain! On Pirate Night this space turns into the Pirate League offering pirate-themed makeovers.

Kids Clubs

The kids clubs on Disney Cruise Line are absolutely exceptional - they are themed play spaces for kids overflowing with Disney magic and a packed schedule of organised activities. All of these spaces offer ‘Open House’ hours where families can look around and enjoy the spaces together which can be great for children who are unsure if they want to join in without their parents nearby.

  • ‘It’s a Small World’ Nursery (ages 6 months - 3 years): Space is limited here so book your reservations as soon as possible, there is an additional fee for this service. Broken down into two distinct areas - the Nap Room and the Play Room.

  • Disney’s Oceaneer Club (ages 3-10): Entrance to this club is either by slide or stairs - what a way to start your time in this club! Youngsters will be absorbed for hours in this activity centre full of magical surprises. Imaginative programs which are overseen with the care and expertise of Disney-trained counsellors. Areas on the Wish include the Marvel Super Hero Academy, Star Wars: Cargo Bay, Fairytale Hall, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab and Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck.

  • Edge (ages 11-14): Tweens have their very own place to play onboard. Equipped with high-tech entertainment such as TVs, iPads and video games with a full itinerary of guided activities. This space is inspired by the trendy urban lofts of New York City.

  • Vibe (ages 14-17): This is the perfect hangout for young cruisers to meet new friends, watch movies and play games in this space inspired by a Parisian artists’ loft.

  • The Hideaway (ages 18-20): Older teens and young adults can enjoy this stylish club with a dance floor and DJ booth.

Adult-Only Activities

  • Senses Spa & Salon: Provides tranquility, pampering and relaxation with a multitude of spa and beauty treatments. You can book for a specific treatment or book a Rainforest Pass for the length of the cruise which allows you access to the spa area to enjoy things like the steam room, sauna and speciality rain shower experiences.

  • Fitness Centre: Expansive, state of the art exercise club offering stunning ocean views and everything you need to work out during your sailing.

  • Beverage Tastings: Book onto an informative beverage tasting (such as mixology class, rum tasting, stem-to-stern wine tasting and many more) for a fun afternoon!

Adventures x Paradise Review

We absolutely adore Disney Cruise Line! All of our ship reviews begin this way as the whole Adventures x Paradise gang agree that any time onboard a Disney ship give us some of the most magical memories and vacations.

The Disney Wish is a really strange one to try and review as we need to be really clear, there are no bad Disney ships, but this isn’t one of our favourites. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful ships - every corner of the ship is so well decorated and themed but there are just a few areas where we prefer the other ships. The pool set up on the Wish is disappointing to us. We prefer fewer, larger pools like the older ships have as none of these pools actually feel big enough to do anything other than just stand and watch the world go by. We were so excited to try the AquaMouse but we actually prefer the AquaDuck on the Fantasy and Dream ships. The AquaMouse has a very long start (where you are pulled upwards to get to the top before the actual slide part starts) and it just felt like the fun part was much shorter! A lot of the places unique to the Triton class are an extra charge like lots more bars and lounges. The ship seems busier than the Fantasy or Dream even though it holds the same amount of passengers. This could be because the cruise we did on the Wish was shorter so people were just more keen to try and do everything rather than being in a more relaxed crowd on a 7 night cruise. The buffet (Marceline Market) was always very busy and seemed to us to be harder to find a table to sit at than Cabanas on the older ships.

Now we have got our gripes out of the way, let’s move onto what we love about the Wish! The staterooms are absolutely stunning - the older ships all have similar décor but the rooms on here feel much more luxurious and they are definitely more themed. The main restaurants on this ship are so unique! The older ships tend to have similar restaurants with similar menus but it was so nice to have some completely new menus at these restaurants. 1923 is one of our favourite restaurants on any of the Disney ships. The Hero Zone is a great space - we all absolutely loved being able to play ping-pong inside without having to worry about the wind impacting play like it can on some of the outside sports zones on other ships. The Incredibles obstacle course is not to be missed - such a unique activity to do on a cruise ship. Whilst the kids clubs across the whole fleet are exceptional, the imagineering lab here really is next level - kids can design their own rollercoaster and sit in the vehicle to see what they created!

Our vlogs below give a full tour of the ship along with our hints and tips for making the most of a trip on the Disney Wish.

TOP TIP - Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods is a great place to eat and is unique to the Wish and the Treasure. As a family, we love being able to visit the different quick service venues so we all can grab our favourites. The BBQ food at Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue is brilliant and all of these are complimentary - lots of other cruise lines have an additional charge for food like this.
