Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a truly unique resort experience that combines the magic of Disney with the charm of the great outdoors. It is an expansive resort that offers a rustic escape where you can enjoy both nature and adventure. You can camp under the stars, stay in a cabin, and enjoy an array of outdoor recreation on site.
The resort is split into two main areas: the Campground (where guests can camp in their own RVs or tents) and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, which provide fully equipped, spacious accommodations. The resort is set in lush woods, with scenic trails and waterways, creating the perfect atmosphere for outdoor lovers and those seeking a unique Disney experience.
Accomodation
The cabins have recently undergone a huge refurbishment and are in the process of being fully replaced. They have also been converted into Disney Vacation Club accommodation and have a stunning new look to them. The pictures below are those released by Disney, as Adventures x Paradise are yet to experience this new look! They are are ideal for families or small groups, offering space for up to 6 guests. Each cabin is set in the forest and is super private, and comes with:
A full kitchen (including a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and more)
One queen-size bed and one set of bunk beds
A pull-down double bed in the living area
A private bathroom
A separate living room area
Outdoor seating and a grill
The Campground area of the resort has tent sites, RV sites, premium campsites and pet friendly ones too! With full hook-ups, water, grills, fire pits and picnic benches available, there are all the amenities to make this a great spot to bring your home away from home.

Pools & Recreation
Fort Wilderness Resort has so much recreation on offer, it really is the resort for the outdoorsy types. Along with the regular fishing and bike hire, you can also canoe, kayak, take archery lessons, or even go horseback or pony riding from the gorgeous Tri-Circle D Ranch. The ranch also houses many of the horses that work around Walt Disney World that you can interact with. Horse and carriage rides are available down by the Pioneer Hall most days too.
One of the really fun parts of Fort Wilderness is Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long, where families can enjoy singing songs, roasting marshmallows, and meeting Disney characters every evening.
Fort Wilderness offers two pools: the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool with a water slide, and the Lodge Pool, which is perfect for a more laid-back swim. There are also hot tubs and water play areas for young kids. The main playground by the restaurants, shops and beach is a really popular spot for our kiddies, they love it there!

Transportation
Fort Wilderness is a huge resort so using the internal shuttle is a must. Complimentary buses are also available to all the theme parks and DIsney Springs, and there is boat transportation over to Magic Kingdom and the surrounding resorts on Bay Lake (Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary Resort).
Since the resort is so large, many guests find it convenient to rent a golf cart ($60-$80 per night) to help get around. This is particularly helpful if you’re staying in a remote area of the campground.

Adventures x Paradise Review
Fort Wilderness is a one-of-a-kind resort that we can’t wait to experience first hand. We visit on most trips as there is so much to see and do there, although when they took the family style breakfast away from Trails End it was a sad day as this was one of the best value sit down breakfasts on property! Hoop-Dee-Doo is a must do though, we have had so much fun with family and friends at that show, just be warned that there is audience participation involved! Our girls love Tri-Circle D Ranch, the playgrounds, and riding the boat over to Magic Kingdom. It is a resort so different to anything else in Walt Disney World, and one not to be missed!
TOP TIP - If you visit around the holidays - Halloween and Christmas, guests go all out decorating their sites and even the golf carts too! Take the time to drive around looking at the effort everybody goes to, and you may even catch a golf cart parade!
