Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Hong Kong Disneyland, the 5th of the 6 worldwide parks, is a wonderful destination and a great place to visit either just for the day, or as part of a longer stay. As you’d expect it offers the classic Disney charm and magic, but with a unique Asian twist that makes this park its own. Located out on Lantau Island, less than 30 minutes from the city itself, and only a few minutes from the airport, it’s very easy to reach and combine with a city break.

The resort has just one theme park but it packs a punch with plenty of iconic attractions like Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise and It’s a Small World, as well as its own unique attractions like Mystic Manor, Ant Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle and Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars. Character meets are a big draw here so if you’ve got little ones, or if you just love your Disney characters, you’re in for a treat, and the extra shows and entertainment offerings both inside and outside the parks are on another level. We’ve included a full guide to the park and the hotels on the accompanying pages to help you make the most of your time and give you some tips.

On top of the park itself the wider resort is lovely. Being out on Lantau Island, there’s plenty of space and they’ve created a wonderful ‘Disney bubble’. The resort has 3 Disney hotels - the Disneyland Hotel, Explorers Lodge and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel and we’ve given an overview of these three at the link below. All three have the classic Disney buses to transport you to and from the park and have the best Disney resort entertainment offerings we’ve ever seen.

The one thing missing from the resort is a ‘Disney Village’ or a ‘Downtown’ area like they have in Florida, California and Paris. However there is the Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre which is a serene lake area, with lush landscaping. You can enjoy the scenery, take a walk, have a picnic or even pedal out onto the lake. This adds a unique aspect to the resort that you don’t always find in the western parks.
