Universal Studios UK
Exciting news this week as Universal Studios has announced it will be bringing a resort and theme park to the UK!
The announcement from the UK government stated that Universal have committed to build a new theme park and resort in Bedfordshire, due to open in 2031, 6 years from now, with the expectation the project will break ground in 2026 once planning permission etc has been ironed out. The announcement says the site will be 476 aces, with the potential to expand to 700 acres and will include a theme park with several lands, billed as one of the largest and most advanced theme parks in Europe, a 500 room hotel and a retail, dining and entertainment complex. As part of the agreement, there are plans to develop public transport systems around the region. The UK government has already approved plans to expand Luton airport nearby, and Wixams station nearby is also being improved. In addition Universal have said they plan to expand the station further to cope with demand, as well as building a further station nearby.
Initial reports indicate there will be attractions themed around Jurassic World, Back to the Future, Minions, James Bond, Lord of the Rings and Paddington but speculation continues as to what will make the final plans.
